Welcome aboard, me maties!

AG is a Pirates of the Caribbean RPG taking place after Curse of the Black Pearl, and incorporating many of the plots of Dead Man's Chest and At World's End, but is not beholden to follow them exactly, or at all. We welcome both Canon characters and Original Characters, and hope you'll consider joining us for some adventure on the high seas.

Jack:

Keegan hadn't burst out in uncontrollable laughter, which was enough to let Jack get over his little problem. He still wasn't sure what had caused it, but it was ancient history now, and that was all that mattered.

"So it's like a relay beacon. One sets off another, sets off another, and so on."

"Something like that," muttered Jack, closing his eyes. How was he supposed to know how the coins worked, anyway? He felt like he'd done enough explaining for one day. He'd been captured, and he wouldn't get a chance to escape anytime soon. That was all right; Jack was good at waiting - when there was no other option. But he wanted to sleep now; he was tired, and he wanted to rest so he would have enough energy tomorrow to plan out the details of his 'deal' with Beckett. There were many possible twists of it to consider - his own and Beckett's - and Jack would need to be prepared to enable and prevent them respectively. But Keegan apparently had no such worries of his own, and he wasn't considerate enough to read Jack's mind and leave him alone.

"So...if I were to sing this song, or get enough people to sing the song, and the coin reacts and sends a signal to the other coins, what happens? The pirates who have those coins, what do they do?"

"They come together at a place called Shipwreck Cove, where the Pirate Lords in their infinite wisdom decide how best to solve the problem." Jack shrugged lazily. "It's no more use to you than it is to me, I suppose... Still, sometimes knowledge is a useful thing in and of itself."

Keegan:

"They come together at a place called Shipwreck Cove, where the Pirate Lords in their infinite wisdom decide how best to solve the problem." Jack shrugged lazily. "It's no more use to you than it is to me, I suppose... Still, sometimes knowledge is a useful thing in and of itself."

Keegan blinked. Pirate Lords? What the hell were those? And he'd never heard of a place called Shipwreck Cove. Was it even real? Jack seemed less embarrassed now, and it was obvious the adventures of the day were wearing him down. Keegan had to fight back a yawn, and his head was seriously beginning to hurt. Perhaps now wasn't the time to badger the man with questions. If he was so tired he might make a mistake. But if he was so tired, he might also tell the truth. If he was wide awake and rested, lies might come more easily to him.

Then Keegan forced himself to realize that it probably didn't matter. Didn't he just say he wanted no more part in anything the pirate did? Taking the coin had been bad enough, but here he was about to ask what Pirate Lords were and where Shipwreck Cove was. It really didn't matter, because Keegan would never meet them, and would never go there. However he was still curious enough about the coin to ask one last thing.

"Are you going to teach me the song?" he asked, rubbing the edge of the coin with his thumb. "If you're giving me this, I expect you to. Maybe not right now, but during the voyage."

Jack:

Jack finally gave in to his need for rest, lying down on the bench. He soon decided he didn't like the feel of it and sat up again, scratching his chin, before trying the deck instead. It wasn't great, but Jack had slept in worse places. At least a wooden deck was more comfortable than a stone floor.

"Are you going to teach me the song?" he asked, rubbing the edge of the coin with his thumb. "If you're giving me this, I expect you to. Maybe not right now, but during the voyage."

"All right... during the voyage."

Jack said it without really planning to keep his word; there would be little use in teaching Keegan the song, and Jack's emprisonment didn't make him feel like singing. But the few days of the voyage seemed to last an eternity, and finally Jack did teach Keegan the song, out of boredom more than anything else.

Jack noticed the change in the movement of the ship before he consciously registered it; the change seemed bigger than the weather would allow, and certainly enough time had passed for them to make it to their destination... Jack abandoned his busy schedule of staring into nothingness to look up, as if he could see what was happening far above him through the decks. Then came the expected sound of the anchor cable running through the hawse hole, and Jack turned his gaze back down. This was it then... He wondered, idly, what would happen to Keegan. To say Jack had become fond of him would be a gross overstatement, but he still didn't care to imagine what Beckett might have in store for the boy.
