Captain Gillette, sir, I was wondering if I might speak to you regarding commissions, and erm...quasi commissions, and resignations. Yours, Midshipman O'Brien |

Mister O'Brien, Resigning commissions? What about it? You have not been talking to Mister Evans, I hope. Captain Gillette |

Captain Gillette, sir, I have spoken to Mister Evans, but it had nothing to do with resignations. I simply feel that I am not cut out for the position of an officer in His Majesty's Navy, and I'd like to know what I must do to resign. Please, sir, I mean this not as an attack nor offence to your's or Commodore Norrington's characters, and I appreciate the two of you allowing me to join, and I shall never forget it, but I think I'm...God did not mean for me to be a warrior, or to command men, and I think it better I seek my fortune elsewhere. Yours, Midshipman O'Brien |

Commodore St Montgomery, It has come to my attention, sir, from an anonymous source, that the church which was recently burned down may not have been the act of a deranged priest. While I am a good Anglican myself, sir, they are brothers of the faith, and I beg your permission to investigate the cause of it myself. Sincerely, Lt Malcolm Reed |

A letter is delivered to the Commodore's office bearing the seal of the East India Trading Company. Commodore St Montgomery, The East India Trading Company will be conducting a series of interrogations, searches and, if necessary, arrests of certain citizens in the Port Royal region over the next few days in connection to the theft of Company property and finances. The Company does not doubt your dedication to the upholding of the law, but wishes to impress upon you the necessity for discretion on the part of you and those under your command concerning these investigations. It is a Company matter, and not a military issue. Signed, Lord Cutler Beckett PS: A second letter shall be dispatched to you shortly after this one. It shall contain details of an unrelated matter to this one, but one which nevertheless I feel is of the greatest interest to you. Several hours later, another sealed envelope is delivered. Commodore St Montgomery, My administrative staff have just completed confirming the authentication of the documents you provided concerning the conduct of certain individuals, both civilian, military and political, in relation to the incident concerning former-Commodore Norrington that we have already discussed. They collaborate with one another, as promised by yourself. I'm sure you feel that all concerned should face the same charges that have been brought against James Norrington; aiding and abetting a known criminal. I have my own recommendations on what course of action to take, but I am open to any suggestions you may have on how to proceed, and shall be available to meet you later today, after I have met with Governor Swann to discuss the matter. Signed, Lord Cutler Beckett Edited by Lord Cutler Beckett, 10 Mar 2009, 03:14 PM.

Mr Reed, I shall consider your request at this time. However, certain circumstances pending, we may find ourselves short of officers, and may need to press loyal officers into higher positions. Meet me in my office later, and we shall further discuss your proposal. Commodore St Montgomery Lord Cutler Beckett, Regarding those individuals who were in collaboration with Norrington, I have numerous suggestions to make. Seeing as how such men, by aiding an enemy, were commuting no less than treason, I suggest the harshest punishment for the offenders. These are not trustworthy individuals, but given...the inadequacies of secrecy prevalent for now, I do agree that the specifics are better discussed in person. I look forward to our meeting. Regards, Commodore St Montgomery Mr O'Brien, You are to report to my office immediately, and to stay outside of it, until such time as I am available to deal with you personally. Commodore St Montgomery |

Mister O'Brien, May I suggest that making your feelings and intentions known so publicly was not very wise? Do and say nothing else, to anyone, or I can't help you. Captain Gillette |

Midshipman O'Brien, You'll do exactly what I've told you to do; say and do nothing else. Captain Gillette -- Commodore St Montgomery, I respectfully submit that Midshipman O'Brien be sent to hospital immediately. He has not been in the best health of late and I suspect he has taken a fever. Captain Gillette |

Gillette, I have to wonder what would prompt you, of all people, to inform me that O'Brien has taken ill. Hopefully I will not find out that you and O'Brien have taken to each other, like rumour says that you and Norrington did. There are consequences if you have, do recall that. Commodore St Montgomery, I'd think it was the responsibility of any good officer to know of the welfare of his subordinates. Mister O'Brien has not been in the best of health, of late. Therefore, I believe a stay in hospital would serve him well. Captain Gillette |

Gillette, He's your man. If he must stay in hospital, it's your call, but if I find he is no sicker than a man after a night of shore leave, then you'll be the one paying the price. Commodore St Montgomery |

As I'm sure mostly everyone is aware now, I have been promoted from the rank of Commodore to Admiral, and will be taking up my station in Kingston. While I know some of you blaggards in Port Royale now think this means you will have the opportunity to continue to wantonly disregard command orders, as such you were all doing under your previous commander, I am informing you that such shall no longer be the case. Any man caught disobeying my orders, regardless of your rank will be be immediately receiving 1,000 lashes, and face a court martial. The time of these ridiculous enlightenment nonsense that previous commanders have been pursuing is over. I will have obedience, or you will be put to death like the traitors you are.
