Jack had been caught off-guard and Tia loved every little second of it. Fear was written on his face when he realized a knife was held close to his throat, and Tia had that cunning smile on her face. Had she been a cat, she’d have licked her lips. He did seem a tad bit confused though, when she said he should not forget about her, and she wasn’t sure if he really did understand.

"Understood." He said, and Tia felt his throat push onto the knife just a tad bit, so he was quiet again. Then he raised a hand to push it away just a little, keeping a finger on it. Tia wasn’t pleased with that, but still, one move and he’d bleed. "Although I must say that such a reminder seems superfluous. I doubt anyone could forget you, no matter how much they try." He smiled, but not the charming smiles from before. She saw him glance at the blade again, and made sure her hand still held on to the back of his neck. "Now, about my leaving soon..."

She shook her head. “’Tis not simply a reminder, Sparrow… I was forgotten in ´te past, or more… disrespected.” Tia moved the knife closer to his throat again, but stared right into his eyes. “But you… will not forget. ‘An you will not spread wicked tales on me.” She explained with a voice both low and definite at the same time. He should remember her for what she was, and not for what he might think after what he’d seen. Bloodshot eyes looked into his, firm and hard eyes… not the sweet alluring eyes just moments before, when she had seduced him, made him believe she wanted another round of him. And she would definetly not forget that either, and neither would he. He’d know not to play around with her again.

“I need a promise… an’ I will keep you to it. Forever.” Tia then said, and kept her eyes locked with his for a moment more. She’d let go of him once he had promised he would not forgot, that he would not spread gossip. Then she would not have to kill him, now at least.

Perhaps it was because he was trying so hard to figure out where Tia was coming from, his mind speeding along every single topic it had ever encountered. Whatever the reason, something suddenly clicked when Tia went on about her past and how she had been mistreated.
The music.
Jones.
Her?
Everything suddenly stopped, as if Jack's mind had reached the eye of a storm. Could Tia really be ..? It seemed ridiculous, and yet... Wasn't it possible? It should have been easy to laugh off the idea, to see Tia as an insane, megalomaniac woman, but Jack couldn't do it. For one thing, she didn't seem the type. For another, she had known things she shouldn't be able to know, and as much as Jack liked to attribute them to coincidence, such a large number of huge coincidences on the same subject was unlikely to exist.

Should he be impressed, being in the presence of a goddess? He had a healthy dose of fear for Tia, of course, but 'impressed' wasn't the word, if for no other reason than that her being a goddess felt so unreal. Neither was sympathy quite what Jack felt, and yet it was probably most akin to that. She had lost her divinity; he had lost his captaincy. It was practically the same thing. Jack might feel an actual bond, if it weren't for the fact that she was still poking a dagger at his neck.

“I need a promise… an’ I will keep you to it. Forever.”

Jack almost shuddered at the last word. Forever was a long time, and Tia looked to be serious about it. He considered inquiring about extenuating circumstances, but he had pushed his luck enough already, without getting the slightest amount of leeway; it wasn't the time for more negotiations. Anyway, it wasn't as if he wanted to tell people; his thoughts had been purely a precaution.

"I promise," he said softly, staring into her eyes. He meant it too - at least for now. One never knew what tomorrow might bring, but he had no intention of sharing Tia's secret lightly. It was as good a promise as he could give.

He seemed to think a grand deal about her words. Which was good, or so she hoped. And when she said she'd keep him to the promise she hoped and knew he would make, forever, she could not miss his reaction. The word worked. Forever was a long time, but Tia had forever. She always had, even in this human form which did not seem to age although she could only use it for what it was. A mortal body, without the divine powers she used to have. Jack here though, was a Pirate Lord - and therefore all the more reason to keep him to his promises. He owed her one.

"I promise,"

Jack stared into her eyes, and for now she saw only truth. He meant it. "Good." Tia said with a small grin. And then with the dagger still nearer his throat than he probably liked, she reached up giving him another short kiss - but a kiss none the less - before she released him from her grasp. Her hand away from his neck and her dagger slowly retreating from his throat while she took a step away from him.

"You may go." Tia said with a silky voice, stepping aside and gesturing with a hand towards the door, as a proper butler might do it, helping someone to leave. She didn't need him to stay any longer. He already knew too much, but so did she. And he'd return, she'd seen glimpses of their future. And even if she did not wish to meet him again right now, she knew she would, one day. He had given her a promise, and she would keep him to it. Forever.

((Meh, I'm still not sure this needs another post - yours is a good ending with the 'forever' - but there you go.))

Tia seemed to accept his promise - and yet she didn't let him go. Instead, she moved in and kissed him again. A goddess, with a knife at his throat, kissing him - nevermind what had gone before. It was an unusual experience, and not entirely unpleasant; there was no denying a certain tingling feeling. Well... People were bound to feel strange things when in mortal danger, weren't they?

So intense were the feelings in question that Jack almost didn't notice when Tia released him.

"You may go."

That brought Jack down to earth. "Much obliged," he said, trying not to seem flustered. He looked at the door. After everything that had happened, he had a hard time believing that Tia would really take his word for it and let him go. Instinct wanted him to make a run for it, but that was definitely out. Copying Tia's overly formal behaviour, Jack bowed, removing his hat. Holding the hat an inch or two above his head, he took the first few steps towards the door backwards, just in case Tia developed a notion that stabbing him in the back would be a good idea.

"Goodbye, love," he declared, just because something needed to be said - and with a wave of his hat he was outside, quickly closing the door behind him.

The door was hardly an impenetrable barrier, and yet all sense of urgency disappeared as soon as Jack was outside. He calmly placed his hat on his head again, glancing at the door before he climbed down the ladder. As he rowed, Tia's demand kept running through his head, as did his own parting words. Goodbye, was it? Somehow Jack wasn't so sure of that. It was merely Tia's threats that made him think that, of course - no better than some silly superstition. Even if she had been a goddess once, she wasn't one anymore. He was rid of her at the moment, and not unpleased to be so; that was what mattered. At least he had some nice memories to show for the experience, and of course...

Jack took the compass out of his pocket. He didn't need it yet - there was only one way out of the swamp - but he was curious. After opening it, the needle spun around a few times, then stopped, pointing southeast with much conviction. Jack shrugged. Well, here was hoping...
