This thread was not able to be recovered from the old board. It was about a tavern brawl between the Marines, soldiers, and EITC troops. The EITC men were soundly defeated and forced to strip out of their uniforms, which were then burned in the street. They were marched naked back to the docks, where they were made to bend double and present their bare rumps toward the EITC flagship Endeavour. The thread led to floggings for the Marines involved. Edit, to include the next-to-last post in the thread. Crawford could not recall an evening that he enjoyed more. He ambled along on the left side of the shame-faced column of EITC men, his sword drawn and resting, blade-edge out, on his right shoulder. A flock of his own, regular marines followed, keeping their own formation while remaining in step with the Colour-Sergeant's gruffly-barked cadence. "Lef'... lef'... riiight... lef'..." It was difficult to keep his face blank, for he wanted nothing more than to burst out laughing at the sight they all must make. McIntyre had thundered and roared admirably at the EITC men until they had gotten themselves into a formation that the corporal grudgingly approved of. When he had faced about and turned the unusual group over to Crawford, the Colour-Sergeant had nearly lost his composure. The smug grin dancing about McIntyre's lips when he'd saluted was almost too hard to ignore. Now he had the column of naked pet soldiers marching toward their ship. They had been spotted, for the dark outlines of men along the large ship's deck rail revealed a good many spectators. The column was close to the ship's gangplank by now. Crawford smirked and decided to give them a show. Pausing barely a heartbeat to draw in a breath, he bellowed out "Column! Maaaark, time!" The column ceased their forward progress, but carried on stepping in place. Crawford let this go on for a few seconds. "Column! Halt!" When the drumming of feet stopped, the Colour-Sergeant drew in another breath. "To the leeeeft, face!" From the regular marines' column came the unified scrape and stamp of shoe heels, nicely drowning out the much more subdued shuffling of the EITC men's bare feet. A group of sailors seemed to be coming down the gangplank toward them, which gave Crawford a sudden idea. "King's Marines, stand fast! EITC column! Aboooout, face! Preeeesent, arse!" The Colour-Sergeant strode forward until he was standing at the front of the column of EITC men, who were now bent double with their bare arses pointed toward their ship. He saluted the men lining the deck rail with his sword and bellowed, "Column is ready for inspection!" |
