Description: Sweet Parrot stands an impressive eight inches tall, with a beak to tail length of thirteen inches. His wingspan, when he deigns to spread his wings, is a round eight inches. The feathers on the top and back of his head are tipped in lilac-blue. On his upper cheeks and ear, the blue turns into yellow, with the largest wing feathers also being yellow. His countour feathers are sparse, hard and glossy with powderdown in between them and his bill is grey with a yellowish horn on the upper mandible. His eyes are orange and seem to have the ability to pierce through to one's very soul. His legs are greenish-grey and he has two toes forward and two toes back on either foot.

Whilst "self-righteous" is not a word often heard to describe him, it certainly fits. Sweet Parrot believes firmly that he is the Earth-bound voice of the Lord, and woe to anyone foolish enough to suggest otherwise. He is a devout little bird, listening to daily readings from the Bible and ever-alert for new commands or insight from God. His vocabulary seems to be limited, but in reality he chooses very carefully to whom he speaks. One Mrs Wallner is his preferred confidante, and it is to him that the silly woman turns in all matters requiring spiritual guidance.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

Strengths

  • Prophesy - Like Elijah, Isaiah, and others, Sweet Parrot speaks the word of God, as it is spoken to him. When he hears the Lord speak, he loses little time in passing on the glory of God's wisdom and this ensnares the full attention of all within earshot.
  • Guise - Because he is a parrot, few would believe that he is a prophet sent from Heaven. He uses this misconception to surprise the people around him with outbursts declaring God's greatness. Other times, he uses the belief that he is merely a parrot to his advantage, and often eavesdrops on those who he perceives to be blasphemers.
  • Faith - Sweet Parrot does not only believe that he is the voice of the Lord, he knows it. This surety gives him confidence in all his dealings with humans, who are continually amazed by the bird. It also gives his prophesies more conviction.
Weaknesses

  • Mrs Wallner - Unfortunately for Sweet Parrot, the only human to truly take him seriously is the elderly grandmother of the Lords Worcester. The woman is known to be something of a loon, which makes the words of God more difficult to spread.
  • Earthly form - Being a parrot makes travel difficult, for the places he most wishes to go require human escort. Were he in another form, he might be able to move about more freely.
  • Illiteracy - He cannot read or write, which prevents him from reading passages from his beloved Bible whenever he wishes. Instead, he is forced to rely on Mrs Wallner for scripture readings, which sometimes grate upon his nerves, for her voice is not the most pleasant.
History:

From the time he hatched, Sweet Parrot knew he was special. He was the last to crack the confines of his egg, but even as he shook off the shell fragments, his feathers were brighter than those of the other parrot-lings in the nest. He grew faster than the others as well, gaining his flight feathers fully a month before the rest. Strange words and sounds filled his tiny head constantly, whispering to him that he was destined for great things.

As he began clumsily learning to fly, the words and sounds in his head started becoming clear. The words formed into commands and the sounds into guidance, which set him on the path toward prophetic renown. Sweet Parrot left the nest as soon as he was able to fly and never returned, following the direction of the voice in his head. He was told to follow the river near the tree where he was born, for there was a man he had to meet.

This man appeared one night whilst Sweet Parrot napped in a tree. A net swept around the sleeping parrot and he was caught up, squawking angrily even as he was bundled off toward a waiting boat. A strip of burlap was tied around his beak and eyes, effectively blocking out all light. Where he was being taken, he did not know, but the voice in his head whispered to him not to be afraid and he was not. In time, the burlap was removed from around his head and he was stunned by the abrupt return of blinding sunshine. He was in a strange place, and worse... he was confined! This was an insult beyond all reason.

The voice began instructing him, even as he crashed against the iron bars of the cage in panic. He was to calm himself and comport himself like a messenger of God, and cease all that undignified noise. Cowed by the voice's firm tone, Sweet Parrot settled his thrashing about and listened. The first words the humans around him heard the bird speak were "God help us!", and a thorough fear was struck into them. They tossed his cage into the street and cried that he was possessed and sure to bring doom upon all who got near him.

It was as his cage was rolling and tumbling along the uneven cobblestones that he encountered an unlikely ally. An elderly woman rescued his cage before it could be trampled by a pair of horses drawing a stone-mason's cart. Thus it was that Sweet Parrot came into the acquaintance of one Mrs Mary Wallner. The voice told him that she was to be his human voice to the world and that any revelation given was to be passed on to her at once. Only too pleased to be given such an important task, Sweet Parrot agreed.

He lived happily for several years, speaking the words of God and enjoying the renown that came with being the prophetic parrot of Mrs Wallner. For, even if the woman was considered slightly mad, he was an object of great respect and people revered him. What more could a parrot ask for? God spoke to him at irregular intervals, but His visions were always clear and unmistakable. Sweet Parrot adored his God and was quite vociferous in spreading his teachings and wisdom. That is, until the arrival of a daemon of Hell. God warned Sweet Parrot that a messenger of Lucifer was coming, but did not say in what form the daemon would take. Sweet Parrot considers everyone to be suspect, outside of the small circle of Mrs Wallner's family, and takes the commands of the Lord even more seriously than before.

Sample/Past Roleplay:
