OOC Info Username: Will Turner How did you find out about AG: I own it... Have you read the rules and agree to abide by them? I do. Character Biography Given Name: William Surname: Turner Nickname: Will Age: 22 Sex: Male Ethnicity: Country of Birth: Current Whereabouts: Port Royale Occupation: Journeyman Blacksmith Former Occupation(s): Apprentice Blacksmith Parents: William "Bootstrap Bill" Turner, Margaret Turner (nee Jones) Siblings: N/A Children: N/A Avatar: Orlando Bloom Description: Will Turner is an imposing 5'11" (in the old Imperial measurements), with shoulder length dark curly hair. He has an olive complexion, and dark chocolaty eyes. His finely chiseled chest and abs are perfectly hairless and flawless. Despite the legions of women who may adore him and think him a fine male specimen, he does have a slightly feminine look and curve to his face. He is, plainly put, a pretty man. He is physically strong--many years working the bellows as an apprentice blacksmith, and pounding hot iron into submission have left him with strong and muscled arms. He is not all brute strength however, he is agile, with an impeccable sense of balance, and can move with grace. These have aided him immensely when it comes to dueling with a sword. Will fits the archetype of the hero. He's brave, honest, honourable, always tries to do the right thing, and a perfect slave to his love. When he does things, even some that could be morally wrong, be assured that he is always doing them with the best of intentions. Strengths & Weaknesses: William is one of the finest swordsmen in the Caribbean (as stated by Ted & Terry in the DVD commentaries, of the four characters Sparrow, Barbossa, Norrington, and himself, he is at the top), and is an honourable fencer to boot. His skill in swordfighting allows him the luxury of obeying the rules, and playing by the book. Unfortunately, while he is a fine swordsman who plays by the rules, not everyone does, and he is often surprised to find that others don't. He tends to believe the best of people in that regard, even those who may have a less than pristine reputation, and that comes back to haunt him. He is starting to overcome this inclination, but it has an annoying tendency to come back and haunt him repeatedly. His love for Elizabeth can and has led him astray at times, and to act against his own best interest. To save her, or to be able to keep her, he would do almost anything. For his love he's freed men condemned to death, commandeered a vessel of His Majesty's Navy, been involved with the loss of a vessel of His Majesty's, and again attempted to free a prisoner of the Crown. Quite simply put, if there were ever a way to get through to Will Turner, then it is through Elizabeth Swann. History: Will Turner, Jr was born the only child of the merchant sailor, and later to be pirate, William Turner. Will was raised believing his father to be an honourable sailor, one who obeyed the laws. Around his eighth year, his mother died, leaving him alone in the world. He was young, and brave, and chose to try and seek out his father to live with him. Keeping only the clothes on his back, and a medallion that his father sent him, he boarded a ship due for St Kitts, where he hoped to find word of which ship his father was serving on, and to eventually be reunited with him. Four weeks into the voyage, at the fringes of the Caribbean Sea, his ship was set upon by pirates. The captain had run down their colours in total surrender, but it appeared that the pirates weren't interested in granting quarter. They came aboard, trying to cut down every person, when a spark...somehow went off in the powder magazine, sending the whole vessel up in flames. Will was fortunate to be far enough away from the blast to only sustain superficial wounds, and be knocked into the sea. Before he lost consciousness, he was able to pull himself from the ocean onto a wooden plank, and then pass out. It felt like only a second later that he awoke to the face of an angel, her hand brushing away his hair tentatively. He could only answer his name before he passed out again. The rest of the journey to Port Royale, for that was where the proud Royal Navy vessel was bound, he had fallen completely and totally in love with Elizabeth (in that way that only children can). At Port Royale, due to his status as a parentless child of obviously less fortunate means, he was apprenticed to Mr Brown. He was very fortunate to receive that opportunity, for while it would never be a guarentee for riches or fame, it did ensure that he had a bed to sleep in, food to eat, and a chance for a successful career once the time of his apprenticeship was over. What started out as a childhood crush on Elizabeth gradually grew into genuine love and affection for her. They spent years sneaking away, so that they might be able to see each other, but as they grew older their time together became less and less frequent. William, of the two of them, was keenly aware that while he loved Elizabeth, he had nothing to offer her, no wealth, and no lofty position that might make him a worthy contender for her hand. When she was kidnapped by pirates, he risked all, and was only happy to, in order to save her. He had never known such fear as when she was kidnapped, and he was willing to give his life, so that she might come back, alive and pure. He and the pirate Sparrow saved her, and that day became the happiest of his life—because Elizabeth declared her intention to marry him. He was also old enough at that point to no longer be an apprentice, and become a journeyman blacksmith. While he is content to keep that as his occupation, he knows that in order to provide the comfort that he ought to for Elizabeth, he must find a more respectable position.
